A Virtual Passport with Kingdom of Style

There is something about Scottish style that we just can’t resist. Edgy, moody (in a good way), and 100% unique, the Scots really know what they are doing. Our favorite place to score a dose of Scottish sartorial inspiration is Kingdom of Style. The blog was co-founded in 2006 by Michelle and Marie, whose personal style posts are both accessible and aspirational. We love Michelle’s grown-up approach to grunge/punk and Marie’s love for color brightens up every post. Along with these personal style posts, this dynamic duo includes wonderfully written product reviews, cultural commentary, and artist and designer features. This is one blog that is at the top of our bookmark list.

A Virtual Passport with Fashion Zen

Iris, the blogger behind Fashion Zen, has a true eye for style. Hailing from the Netherlands, her personal style blog features bold, fashion forward outfits in bright colors and graphic prints, including a Roy Lichtenstein inspired sweater, a digital-print floral bomber jacket, and a sky high pair of wooden block platform sandals. Clearly, Iris’s Netherlands has an edge and effortless cool. It’s just the kind of place we would like to visit.

Book Review: Style Diaries

The proliferation of the internet has changed every major industry conceivable, but few more so than fashion. Fashion is no longer for the elite minority and the driving force behind its democratization is the fashion/style blogger.  Style Diaries offers up brief entertaining profiles and lovely photographs for a variety of style bloggers around the world. From Zürich resident Ulrike (Dotti) Schumann of Dotti’s Dots who gains her nickname from her love of a certain print to Londoner Susanna Lau of Stylebubble who has a pension for interesting shapes in unusual fabrics, this book has a blogger to inspire anyone. We love this book as a resource for discovering new bloggers and as a reference for the goings-on in fashion and style worldwide.

The landscape of fashion is shifting towards a greener future, and it’s a very pretty picture. Long have been the days of treasured vintage heirlooms and hand-me-downs supporting sustainability in the way we dress, but these days fashion designers, producers and retailers are taking it even further, finding ways to incorporate greener practices into their brands starting with the original products. These green industry pioneers are sourcing organic materials and recycled fabrics and using production methods that have less impact on our environment. Totally on board eco-fashion trends, we were excited to hear from our friend, Cora Hilts, who is dedicating an entire blog to the subject. Rêve en Vert introduces fashion lovers to eco-friendly and sustainable products, and features exciting and interesting stories including Alexa Chung’s photo shoot at Reformation NYC and sustainable Scottish designer Henrietta Ludgate.  Needless to say, this blog has the Wiseling stamp of approval. We will be following Rêve en Vert closely, ready to read about the next big breakthrough in eco-friendly fashion.

Check out Zoe Schlacter (the Girl with the Flower) and her amazing floral headbands and hats. More people should wear plastic flowers and birds in their hair because she looks stunning.
