Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel
Before magazine editors doubled up as web sensations and reality show judges, there was the charismatic, trendsetting, star-discovering, and oh-so-quotable Diana Vreeland. In her years working as fashion editor for Harper’s Bazaar, editor-in-chief for Vogue, and finally in her work at the Met’s Costume Institute, Vreeland shaped what it meant to be fashionable. She pioneered such ideas as highlighting a model’s flaws as beauty and fashion spreads as art. Today marks the release of a new documentary about Vreeland’s life and her role in inspiring so many of today’s tastemakers. With commentary from the likes of Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, Calvin Klein, and so many more, this movie is the perfect addition to this year’s inspirational spring fashion shows.
