Treasure Hunting NYC: Upper East Side
The Upper East Side is designer label heaven. A stroll along Madison Avenue yields such names as Michael Kors, Gucci, Derek Lam, Christian Louboutin, and so many more. Vintage and consignment are not the first words that come to mind in such an affluent part of the city, but we did the legwork and found two stand out shops packed full of treasures (that just so happen to be right next door to each other!).

Michael’s The Consignment Shop for Women, 1041 Madison Ave.

Up a flight of stairs that, in a genius marketing strategy, builds the shopper’s excitement by listing featured designers on every step, this gem of a store offers a carefully curated collection of designer clothing, shoe, and bags. Save up some spending cash for this place. Temptation lurks around every corner in this beautifully laid-out two-story boutique with prices that range from $150 for a pair of barely worn velvet Stubbs & Wootton loafers to $1500 for couture designer dresses.
La Boutique Resale, 1045 Madison Ave.

Only a few steps away from Michael’s is La Boutique. Also on the second floor, La Boutique is a small space stocked full of vintage and modern pieces. Though a little overwhelming at first, there is a decided method to the madness as clothing is arranged by category and size. More affordable for the average vintage connoisseur, you will find cashmere sweaters for as little as $65 and vintage Valentino for $1250. We absolutely fell in love with a vintage Preen dress and their impressive collection of Chanel jackets.
